Welcome
Kotova X compares live quotes from several independent swap providers and routes your order to whichever one offers the most for your trade. Your funds go directly from your wallet to the provider that executes the swap. They never pass through Kotova.
These pages explain what that means in practice, what happens at each step of a swap, and what to do when something does not go to plan.
What Kotova is
Section titled “What Kotova is”Kotova is a comparison and routing layer, not an exchange. It does not hold your funds, it does not trade against your order, and it does not require an account.
That distinction shapes almost everything else in this documentation, so it is worth being precise about it up front:
- Kotova compares — for every swap it asks several liquidity providers what they would give you, in parallel.
- Kotova routes — it sends your order to the one offering the best result, unless you have chosen otherwise.
- The provider executes — you send your funds to a deposit address belonging to that provider, and they send the swapped asset to your wallet.
Kotova is not a party to the transfer at any point. There is no stage at which your assets sit in a Kotova wallet, not even briefly.
The three products
Section titled “The three products”Only one of the three is available today. The other two are on the roadmap and cannot currently be used.
| Product | What it does | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Kotova X | Non-custodial instant swaps between crypto assets | Live |
| Kotova Pay | Crypto to SEPA payments and invoice handling | Planned for 2027 |
| Kotova Deal | Non-custodial escrow using multi-signature release | Planned for 2027 |
Everything in this documentation refers to Kotova X unless a page says otherwise.
Where to start
Section titled “Where to start”- New to Kotova X? Read What is Kotova X first, then The aggregator model for how a provider is chosen for your order.
- Wondering what is actually available? Product status and roadmap sets out what is live and what is not.
- Want to understand the mechanics? Quoting and routing explains how a provider is chosen for your order, and The order lifecycle covers what happens after you press confirm.
- Concerned about custody or counterparty risk? Non-custodial architecture and Security overview are the two pages to read.
- Security researcher? See Bug bounty.
Something went wrong with a swap
Section titled “Something went wrong with a swap”Go straight to Troubleshooting. It covers the common cases — a swap taking longer than expected, a lost order link, a missing memo, the wrong network, an amount that differs from the estimate.
If your order needs a decision from you, your order page will say so. Swaps are irreversible once broadcast to a blockchain, so it is worth reading Refunds and emergencies before you send anything.
